SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Steele Heights School is a district site for three special education programs: Interactions, Strategies and Connections.
Interactions Program
Interactions programming supports students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD impacts how people understand what they see, hear and sense. This lifelong disability can result in difficulties in communication, social relationships, behaviour or learning. Although some students with ASD achieve at grade level, many have uneven or delayed achievement.
Strategies Program
Strategies students receive small group assistance to provide them with the skills they need, based on their individual program, to be successful learners in a regular classroom setting.
Connections
Connections students receive small group instruction designed to assist them overcome behavioral patterns that affect their overall achievement.
